Frodon has connections buzzing

Connections were delighted with Frodon's display in claiming the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at Cheltenham on Saturday.

The son of Nickname became only the second four-year-old to win the prestigious Grade Three contest at Prestbury Park with an excellent display.

Kylemore Lough led before the second-last but Frodon was never far off the pace and was soon on terms.

Sam Twiston-Davies, who has recently returned from injury, then pressed the accelerator to claim the spoils by a length-and-a-half from Aso.

After the race, Twiston-Davies praised the way his mount dealt with the conditions.

"I said he had a good chance, and it's important for me coming back from injury to get a big one on the board for the boss - I couldn't be happier," he said.

"I was happy with my position and that's what we wanted to do today, give him a bit of space and the right horses to aim at.

"He jumped the last really nicely, but when the ground is like this it's a long old run-in."

Trainer Paul Nicholls was equally enthusiastic and was particularity pleased with the way his charge improved his jumping skills.

"Frodon's a good horse, he jumps well," he said. "They can all make the odd mistake, he's only a novice, but we put that right in the last month and he was a lot fresher today."
